FestiDrinkz works without an account and without tracking. Below is exactly which data we store and why.

FestiDrinkz respects your privacy. In this policy we explain which data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
In short
The full policy
FestiDrinkz is an application that lets groups of friends keep track of drinks and costs and split them fairly. The information page is available at festidrinkz.nl, the web app at app.festidrinkz.nl. FestiDrinkz is also available as a native app for iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). The native apps internally use the same web app and data storage. No separate tracking or analytics is carried out through native code.
You don't need to register to use FestiDrinkz. No email address, phone number or password is requested.
Anonymous device identifier
On your first visit we create a random code (for example fd_a3f8...) which we store in a cookie and in our database. This code contains no personal information and cannot be traced back to a person. We use this code solely to remember your groups between visits.
Group data
When you create a group you store a group name and, optionally, the name of the event. This is data you fill in yourself.
Member names
Within a group you enter the first names of the participants (for example “Jan” or “Piet”). This is not verified data: you can fill in any name.
Rounds and spending
We store who paid for which round, which drinks were ordered and what the corresponding amounts are.
Open tab and menus
With an open tab (eating out or going to the pub) we store the items on the menu and the orders, just as with rounds. A menu you confirm is added to a shared menu library, so that a next group at the same restaurant doesn't have to enter it again. That library contains only the name and town of the restaurant and the dishes and drinks with their prices, never group names, member names or orders.
Scans
For each scan we record which group it was for, how many photos it included and what reading it cost. We use this to prevent abuse and to monitor costs. We don't keep the photos themselves.
Push notifications
If you turn on notifications in the app, we store a technical code for your device, the anonymous code it belongs to, the type of device, the language and whether notifications are on. We use this to send you a notification, for example when someone asks you for money. If you turn notifications off on your phone, you stop receiving them. We remove a code that no longer works.
Installation flag
If you install the app on your home screen, we store a simple flag (install_ack) so that we don't show the installation message again.
Final settlement (PDF)
When settling up you can generate a PDF containing the final settlement. This PDF is created on your device and is not stored or sent by us. What you then do with the PDF (share, save) is up to you.
We don't collect location data (not even when searching for a menu), contacts, payment details or IP addresses for profiling, and we don't place advertising cookies or tracking pixels from third parties.
We use a functional cookie: fd_anon. This cookie contains only the anonymous device identifier and is necessary for the app to function. Without this cookie we can't remember your groups. If you choose your name in a group ("Who are you?"), we store with this cookie which name you are in that group, so that only you can tick off payments made to you.
If you choose a language yourself, the cookie fd_taal remembers that choice. It contains only the language code.
We don't use analytical or marketing cookies.
In addition to the cookie, we store group information in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This data doesn't leave your device, unless you synchronise it through our server when using multiple devices or browsers.
We keep group data for as long as the group is active. There is no automatic deletion. If you want your data deleted, you can contact us.
We don't sell your data and don't share it with third parties, with two exceptions. If you scan a menu or price list in the app, we send the photos to Anthropic, the maker of the AI model Claude, to read out the dishes, drinks and prices. Only the photos are sent, no names or other group data. Anthropic is based in the United States and processes the photos as a processor, under its terms for business users. We don't keep the photos. So photograph only the menu, not the people at the table.
We send push notifications through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. For this, Google receives the technical code of your device and the text of the notification. That text can include a first name from your group and an amount.
We don't use external analytics services such as Google Analytics.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data. Because we don't link email addresses to accounts, you can give us your anonymous identifier to request or have your data deleted.
