Frequently asked questions

What is KantineTab?

KantineTab is a free drinks tab for regular groups who often end up together at the clubhouse bar (the kantine, in Dutch) or pub, such as a sports team, a choir or a drama club. It's part of the FestiDrinkz app: when you create a new group you choose Team or club. Per evening you track who got which round and who drank what, and the balance carries on until the end of the season. You don't need an account.

Do we have to settle up after every evening?

No. The balance carries on. Whoever gets a round goes into credit, and whoever drinks along owes. If you owe, you get the next round or pay when it suits you. At the end of the season KantineTab works out what's still open, with as few bank transfers as possible.

What happens with what guests drink?

Guests don't pay. What a guest drinks goes to the regular members drinking in the same round, split to the cent. If no regular member is drinking in that round, whoever got the round covers it. You add a guest per evening and they drop off the list afterwards.

How do you pay someone back?

Transfer the money to whoever you like, for example the person with the highest balance. Report the payment in KantineTab and the recipient confirms it has arrived. If the recipient enters it themselves, it counts straight away. That way the balance always matches what has actually been paid.

What happens at the end of the season?

Under Close the season, the team sees who still owes whom, with as few bank transfers as possible. The old season then locks and the new season starts at zero, with the same members, home clubhouse bar and price list. Anything still open from the previous season stays visible until it's paid.

Can we drink on an open tab too?

Yes. Open a tab for the evening and everything you order goes on the bill. At the end one person pays or everyone pays for themselves. If one person pays, a tip is split proportionally and they can ask for everyone's share right away. They tick off what comes in.

Do I have to enter all the clubhouse bar prices myself?

No. If another team has already entered the price list of the same clubhouse bar, you get it straight away. Otherwise, in the FestiDrinkz app, you scan a photo of the price list, choose a PDF or paste the link to the menu on the club's website. You check everything before it goes on the list.

Does KantineTab work for a choir or drama club too?

Yes. KantineTab is for any regular group that often has a drink together afterwards: a sports team, a choir, a drama club, a darts club or your regular group of friends at the pub. An evening can be at your own clubhouse bar or somewhere else. Using paper now? Read about the tally sheet app for teams, tracking rounds after the match or how digital tally sheets compare.

Does everyone need the app?

No. Share the team link and everyone can follow along and enter rounds, in the app or in a browser. The FestiDrinkz app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Scanning a price list only works in the app.

Does it work if I don't have a Dutch bank account?

Yes. KantineTab only keeps track of who owes what. It doesn't handle money, so you pay each other yourselves, for example by bank transfer, and report it in the app. The recipient confirms it has arrived. The shortcuts for payment requests are aimed at the Netherlands: they open Tikkie, a Dutch payment request app, or a banking app such as ING, Rabobank, bunq or Revolut. Amounts in a team are always in euros.

Does it work for an international team or club?

Yes. The site and app are in English and Dutch, and each phone uses its own language. One member can read it in English and another in Dutch, with the same balances. Notifications arrive in the language of that phone. Names of members and drinks stay as you typed them.

Is KantineTab free?

Yes. No account, no subscription and no ads. KantineTab is part of the free FestiDrinkz app and also works in a browser.

Already in a team or club?
You don't need to create anything. Ask a teammate for the share link, then you're in straight away and can see the balance.
